layers

Slowly, the layers of the musical are building~the entire set is now in place.  We added lights and the 'orchestra' tonight.  Monday will bring costumes and make-up.  Tuesday~final dress and then three shows!

The glamorous view from the pit.

burning question du jour

Yes.  I have Googled it, but I still have no satisfactory answer as to why freezers don't have lights.  Perhaps it is only because I've experienced the cheap appliances that come with rentals, but I am still curious as to why the top freezers are unlit.  HOW are we supposed to forage for foods in the middle of the night?

choices/options/decisions

For some reason, I thought that when I got older that I would have more wisdom and that decisions would come easier.

I suppose on one hand that is true~I know that a box of Cheez-its isn't a good idea for dinner.

But on the other hand, I have now lived through consequences of former decisions and that can give one a bit of self-doubt~maybe one shouldn't be in charge of one's life?

Just some ponderings on this day of heavy stickiness.

Maybe we're all just going in a large circle anyway...

flowers, anyway

Seems that most of Texas is closed for Easter Monday (who knew that was a thing outside of Europe?), so the excursion to the Wildflower Center has been postponed.  However, it is far too gorgeous a day to NOT be outdoors, so I hit the trail closest to my home.

Hard to tell, but this is the teeniest turtle I've seen this spring~about the size of a cell phone.

I wish that blogs came with sensory interactions so that you could hear the buzzing bees and smell the pollen(!) and feel the lake breeze.

I've found myself stopping a lot lately and simply staring at the brightness and the details of new leaves.
Stunning.

Bluebonnets are still going strong.

Even the cacti are getting into this Spring thing.

gone batty

After all the time I've spent exploring Austin, I've yet to truly experience the bats in Austin.

Tonight, some friends organized a lake outing and we lucked out in both perfect weather and umpteen bats.

We all hoped that whomever Erin was, that she said yes!

My bank!  Still need to find a way to visit the top floor of it.

I've wondered since I've been here what this random tower was~found out that it's one of the original fire houses of the city.

Hard to describe what millions of bats sound (and smell) like.

Gorgeous evening in a gorgeous city.

Happy Easter to all y'all.

Friday, good

Lots of spring hikes going on~I had a lovely one this morning around Town Lake with some beautiful and fun colleagues.

Meanwhile, the VA 'phew is getting his hike on, along the Potomac.

tea, with jam and perhaps gluten-loaded bread

Y'all remember that lovely little sofa I got at Christmas time?  Yes.  It has entirely become Monsieur Bogart's realm.  Good luck finding a place to sit, should you visit.

The VA Littles enjoying some of their pre-Easter loot~I SOOO am looking forward to my trip back there next month.

thank GAWD, it's a short week

Sooooo bloody tired.  Am really hoping that we choose to do away with this Daylight Savings nonsense soon.  Am grateful that it's a short work week.

sheer gorgeousness

A friend shared this stunning gif that I've kept re-playing over the past week.  SO much truth.

spring equinox/last night of vacay

Spring Break is lurching to an end (and yes, I realize that for most of the work force, spring breaks ended in college), still not quite ready to let go of the joy of lazy days.

New hairs from the Aveda school this afternoon and fun with filters on my camera!

Lips like Jagger.

Yes.  Ms D IS watching you.

Happy Spring, all y'all.

spring, sprung, sprang

Planted some cat nip a few hours ago (okay, maybe not) and this hot humidity has encouraged it to grow like crazy.

Daffodils remind me of Uncle Bob & Aunt Ellen's farm outside of Portland~please note the darling new photos of my VA 'phew and niece in the background.

A new colouring book for me~am surprised that I didn't choose the swear word mandala version.  I'll most likely regret that during tech week of the musical.

Bogart enjoying his live buffet.
