November?

Found on my car at Trader's
Where did you go? And with the temps in the 70s, it doesn't even feel like time for December.

Enjoyed a gorgeous walk~exploring bits of my new 'hood.

One of the Episcopal churches nearby~there is a St. Dunstan's that is a little further away. I will definitely need to visit that one!

Welcome December and Advent lights.

the shape of things

A student gifted me with two mugs last year and they are the most satisfying thing to hold. They fit just perfectly in my hand.

I had completely forgotten about these gems that I purchased at the end of last school year. They went into storage not being worn, so they got their debut today. Many accolades were heaped upon them.

ease

Unearthed my Scrabble tiles (thank you GW for affordable ones) this weekend and took them along to ESL class to play with vocab today. A daughter of one of my students was home with a cough, so she jumped right in with us. Such fun!

The refreshments were extra elegant today~the students said that they missed me with last week being a short week of classes.

Setting up the tree.

Someone lost an eye during the year of storage/moving.

Stocking all set for Santa~hope he has my new address~this one even has a chimney.

I feel a bit like I'm back in the dorm~but as those were happy years, it's okay.
For now.

out/about

Not really that agile
As it was a gorgeous day and I am just done with the cardboard boxes for awhile, I walked (oh the bliss of living just a few steps away) to the Metro and headed to DC to see a couple new exhibits at the Hirshorn.

Back to the weird room of paper~it was empty enough of people that I could catch snaps of the paper falling.

Part of the Sculpture Garden that I hadn't wandered through before.

Seems odd to skate when it's 50+ degrees, but I guess if they can have an ice rink in Austen, they can have one here. I'll have to go back at night to see it with the twinkle lights.

They were just starting to decorate this while Mom & I went to the Botanical Gardens, so went back to see the final product.

Even the ropes are made out of cedar boughs~smelled SO good in the center atria.

My favorite kind of tree~the cacao.

This ostrich is hilarious.

A glorious day for urban hiking.

Rainbows on the floor.

Stars on the ceiling.

I finally get a good shot of the moon.

Happy Monday all y'all.

digging out from under

Found my Christmas ornament for 2017~bought this in the old town part of Sonoma. Hope the square survived the fires.

My cousins delivered our second pie yesterday~conveniently, it will be breakfast for the week! And I found my happy mug from the Baltimore Museum.

Found the local branch of the Fairfax Library~gorgeous building. I understand that it just reopened. Thrilled to have found it and now am planning on how to get my ESL ladies to it, so they can check out their own books.

As I'm ferreting around my boxes, I managed to fill a bag to donate to GW. And while I was there, I found these pretty little Pottery Barn plates to use for the next couple of months.

thanks be

To prompt, efficient, and careful movers. They loaded the truck out of storage in about 15 minutes and we hit the road. Holiday traffic was mercifully light and the cops that were sitting every two miles were busy with other customers.

I will definitely hire this company again when moving out~the two guys were bounding up the eight flights of stairs to my new little room.

Got my sheets washed, the bed made, and found the nearest Trader's. That's enough for today.

thither & yon

Birthday boots~thanks to all who contributed!!

Enjoyed a gorgeous and frosty pre-brunch walk.

Feasting.

The entire reason for November.

Walking off the pie.

By my next post, I will have moved. Once again. Thankful that it's going to be clear and sunny.
