crisp, clean, cents

The final touch to my new/improved bathroom.

$.12 garnered on the library walk today.

lovely laziness

Pretty beadlets of water.

80 degrees and raining lends itself well to a slothful day of reading.

turtles for T

The smallest turtles that I saw on today's walk~you're lucky they weren't shaken off their log by the party barge that is trolling the lake during SXSW.  Why amps have to be set high enough to rattle the metal streets signs during mid-day is beyond my reasoning.

the mathematics of spring

Take over a week of solid downpours,

end that with a sunny day of 95 degrees,

and one can almost stand still and watch the leaves opening.

It's like walking through one of those National Geographic time lapse specials.

four years later

While I am not a native Texan, I have learned to delight in the first sweep of Bluebonnets in the spring.

My route to the library.

avant et après

A few dollars and a couple of hours later...

Voila!  A colour that I adore.

all burners are a go

Despite my duolingo.com focus being French, today the kitchen was all about the Italian. Marscapone chocolate pots with that exquisite espresso salt that was gifted to me recently.

Don't remember the last time I made risotto, and it was worth the forty minutes of constant stirring.  Drop on by, pull up a fork.

the lips. the teeth, the tip of the tongue

I think that I just received one of the best teaching compliments of my career~one of my high-school voice students told me that this morning her younger brother told her that he could understand every syllable she sang during their morning commute.  And this was to pop/rap music.

My teacher heart is quite happy~I've only been teaching her for eight months~she has an incredible work/practice ethic.  Nice to see bits of goodness in the world.

The perfect way to kick off spring break 2016.

I thought

that I had reached a career low when I found potatoes SPROUTING out of a drawer two decades ago. But I think I just topped that tonight when I found pre-packaged pre-cooked sweet potatoes in their wrapper~ready to explode in my crisper.

How many hours until Spring Break???

space/energy

We've been having some gorgeous twilights 'round here lately.

I generally cook a large pot of beans each week~a friend just introduced me to these festive ones.  I look forward to tasting them.

So much going on inwardly right now~it's interesting to see how it manifests in the physical world.  While I've always been a fan of GW/vintage shops, it may be because I started shopping there for opera costumes and not because I needed school clothes in the 4th grade.  And don't we all love the clean energy and the purge and of the closet or junk drawer?  I am beginning to discover that as soon as I let go of something, something else~often even better~arrives.

This happened this week when a friend called and said that she had bags of clothes she had culled from her closet.  I was just commenting that my wardrobe didn't fit who I was any more and I wasn't in a place to simply go and replace my closet.  And within a few hours?  I have several new pieces of clothing!

In the continued theme of letting go and receiving~after dropping a bag of books off, I found this complete set of a Bananagram (just another way to market Scrabble tiles) in one of the community book exchange boxes in my 'hood.

Swirls of good things happening.

breathe

The tint and light do even come close to being represented in this photograph~but at the end of yet another twelve-hour day, the lake walk and this brilliant green was just what I needed.  Happy March!

Leap Day

"Climb every mountain", the niece embraces this motto in whatever form she finds it!

Had about 10 minutes to myself this afternoon and was lucky enough to spend them sitting in this courtyard~waiting for colleagues to show up to prep the food truck for our Mobile Loaves and Fishes day.

Another cool mosaic in the same courtyard.

Early Easter gift from the sis~I am SO taking this to staff meeting tomorrow morning.  We're having our Tall Tuesday schedule, which means we have meetings from 7:30-10:30 and then!  Get to teach a full day.  And then, run Wonka rehearsals.  The arrival of this cup was perfectly timed.
