end of the road

My feet felt breezy today and when I slid my shoes off, under my desk~I realized that I had worn THROUGH the leather.

I was crushed.  I have resoled and reheeled these lovely shoes many many times.  They have carried me onto many many stages and held me upright through many concerts.

Then I realized that they were well over a decade old and perhaps it was time for them to get to retire their weary leathery selves.

Here's to the next decade of rehearsals and concerts.
And here's a little poetry to ease into Friday~am totally preempting the meaning for shoes:

"I won't be the last
I won't be the first
Find a way to where the sky meets the earth
It's all right and all wrong
For me it begins at the end of the road
We come and go..."

~Eddie Vedder

    1. And comfy! Am bummed that Fridays are stupid 'wear jeans/tees to work' day, because these shoes need an outing!

    2. So, you wear jeans, t-shirt, a cute little blazer and those shoes. NOBODY can complain that you dressed up jeans. Or, they can. And you can give them the patented Ms. Dunston brow lift, and go on with your cute shoes.

Living where there is much higher humidity, you may find your leather wears out faster anyway... even though you're living dry, treating them for water prolongs their lives.

    3. It's a far gentler climate than Seattle or Jersey on leather.

I am wearing heels today, but they're chunky jean appropriate.
