Dropped by to see my Lower School colleague and her charming 3-month old this afternoon. Max was full of smiles & grins (don't ask what is going on with my hair. It was the end of a day and almost the end of a school year.)

some days,
it is good to be an adult because you get to choose to have ice cream for breakfast! This was one of my souvenirs from my visit to the Air & Space Museum last month and it? Was delicious.
Maybe it's because it brings back early memories of living in Alaska and tasting freeze dried food from the Elmendorf Air Force Base or from a camping/wilderness survival store, or maybe it's from my fascination with Wonka's meal-in-a-piece-of-gum~whatever the reason, it is fun in a foil wrapped package. (I've yet to try the new foodie rage of foam as food.)

painting on silence
I saw the beginnings of this mural during spring break~am going to go back when the light is better to get some photos.

Seasons of Love

Just finished with the Trinity Voices Showcase~it's only my second year in teaching/creating this class and it's different every time. The basic premise is to showcase all the creative electives that we offer~from bells to robotics to Model UN to Creative Writing, as well as all the musical and theatrical choices.

And now? For the first time in six weeks, I get to be Laurie and just breathe for the weekend! (The blog title comes from what is now becoming the traditional end of the show~the choir (or whomever wants to sing with us) belting out Seasons of Love.

treats
While the PTA hosted a gorgeous Mexican meal for Teacher Appreciation Week, I was torn about attending because the Dining Hall was serving my favourite menu today. I decided I would ask the chefs if they had any take-away containers and I would gather my beloved spanakopitas for dinner.
Not only did they have a box, they gave them to me for free!
Another peaceful lake hike~which I desperately needed as some nitwit decided we ought to have a FIRE DRILL in the middle of my dress rehearsal. Colour me irritated~I have to fight for every music moment on campus and then when that gets stomped upon. Yeah. The miles around the lake were needed.
I spied the first fireflies of the season! I stood still for about five minutes and took photo after picture, but didn't capture any of the twilight magic.

the swells and dips of daily life
It's Teacher Appreciate Day/Week and our HR Dept offered free chair massages today! Always a good thing and always with the question "what do you DO to get your neck/shoulders like this?"
A gift card to thank me for going on the DC trip~much appreciated as I lost a week of studio fees while out of town.
I have one big performance left~a sort of variety show that showcases all the electives on campus. Today's first rehearsal was like organizing squirrels. Hopefully, it freaked the kids out and they'll pull it together by tomorrow's rehearsal.
Faculty meeting was fairly short (and the first one I've had to attend since January, due to Wonka!!), so I got a lovely lake walk in this evening. I also just found out that one of my college choir conductors passed away this morning~it was nice to walk that out.
And I leave you with this....what this is? I've no idea. An art installation? A new fad of exercise?

treasures on the trail
Spotted two gorgeous cardinals on today's walk~only caught one via camera. The other? I about stepped on!
The latest wildflowers going crazy with spring.
And almost a literal trail of pennies as well. A nice way to end the first day back in school.

May? How did this happen?
Finally got to have that tea party with the niecelet. It consisted of me pouring some 'tea' and then moving away and her darting in to grab a cookie and retreat to the safety of Dada's lap. But hey, I'll take it.
Out for a yummy brunch of many pancakes prior to flying out.
Safely home~Bogart's thrilled to see me. I'm still hanging between two worlds and not quite ready to teach tomorrow morning.
