Um... I've seen bugs like that before; couldn't tell ya what it is, though. Looks related to a long horned beetle or a ground beetle (which is an awfully descriptive name, I'll tell ya).
I'm glad it's not a fire ant, or a sugar ant, or any of the other hideous ants in Texas that it COULD be... (Hideous Ants of Texas... sounds like a good name for a ska band.)

DeleteYes, grateful it was not an ant and grateful that it was about 1.5 miles from my front door!
