Have been mulling over what to say about this iconic and courageous woman that hasn't already been said. At the end of the day~am simply going to quote Oprah and say that this sentence is a legacy we all could aspire to:
"She moved through the world with unshakable calm, confidence and a fierce grace."
As I am in the process of moving and job-hunting, this pondering of one's legacy is apropos. And with these lofty thoughts~am off to the final three student recitals of the season. You may find me on the floor come Sunday!
Maya Angelou can't be summed up - you did "good." Can't peel you off the floor when you're in TX and I'm in WA - sorry! Get some volunteer help?
ReplyDeleteAND "job-hunting"? Just noticed that. Not again! Best wishes in that - you are supremely talented and educated. Why doesn't that count?
ReplyDeleteJob hunting while employed is a pretty good place to be.
DeleteI think someone who "moved through the world" with "fierce grace" - just that phrase in itself tells me that she was A Force. She would have been terrifying, in a good way, like my friend Rosalyn who is in her seventies, who is over six feet tall, and who wears gorgeous suits and ginormous hats and has ginormous opinions she brings with them. She's SCARY. But I watch with fascination.
ReplyDeleteOprah was lucky to have such a woman she could call "friend." I aspire to grow up to have that scary-fascinating "fierce grace."
I think you are well on your way to that amazing place!
