respite & reprieve

After a leisurely morning with lots of good coffee, I arrived at the Roe Farm.  Spent some time admiring the book celebrating my uncle's 80th birthday (gorgeous and poignant essays/photos all y'all who wrote for it.)

Braving the heat wave to inspect the green house.

A long, lazy afternoon of talking and talking.  And talking.

Enjoyed the summer twilight and feisty hummingbirds fighting over their iced water~yes, the pets/animals around here have a very good life.

You know that you're in great hostess land when they still have your very own toothbrush from five years ago!

  1. You're in familiar territory for us. Still sad about missing you. Yesterday River had an amazing solo recital of 17 pieces - showing her musicality and progress (age seven). All our sons were there and their families. You would have loved it.

  2. So glad you enjoyed reading the book and looking at the pictures. I haven't seen it yet. Safe travels south. Give our greetings to your folks and Les/Steph and boys.

  3. I don't think I have anything marked from guests five years ago - a pair of socks from a friend who told me - about a year ago - "for heaven's sakes, throw them away!" It makes a difference to have a place you know you're not moving away from!
