L'art de ne rien faire

How very easy it is to do absolutely nothing here.  Sleep.  Walk.  Eat.

Still haven't figured out the money quite yet~when the bills are in thousands and millions, it's hard to know if you're paying $.50 or $9 for a cup of coffee.  Fortunately, I just found a place to refill water bottles at half the cost at the supermarket, so I have more funds for food!

Had the most exquisite~well, I know them as Spanish tortas from tapas restaurants in the States.  Hard to describe, but it was crunchy and fluffy at the same time.  Farm fresh eggs and carmelized onions~served with toasted bread and a side of fresh tomatoes smashed in olive oil.  (Doesn't sound tasty, but that's pretty much how it was prepared.)  I kind of like that there isn't much English spoken here~am getting by with my pigden French/Italian and pointing and writing.  I figure that if I survived in Prague where I didn't even recognize the alphabet, Ill be fine where I at least can recognize some vocabulary.

Feeling the need for a machete so that I can continue to have fresh coconut water when I return.  Although, explaining that item to Customs may not be anything I want to do.  I am enjoying lying under the fronds (you do not mess with the sun down here) and listening to the clacking sounds.

While I was perusing post cards, I felt a tickle on my leg.  I thought it was probably a piece of shrubbery or a mosquito, but it was a gecko!!  He stared at me and then darted under a piles of wraps.

The blisters said no to hiking through the jungle today on the cacao tour, but I did make it to the tasting shop. Wonka would weep with envy~such flavors!  such smooth mouth feel!  such piles and piles to taste!  My favorite was one with chilis in it.

Waist-deep in the Caribbean is a pretty nice place to be.  Especially as I'm getting weather alerts from my airlines that there is a blizzard heading to DC and I may be re-routed.  Or.   I may just stay here~voila! Problem solved.

  1. I'm sure that you could find something there if you looked, and you should certainly at least ask around. You seem to enjoy the heat, and there are plenty of Americans there, so ... look around and honestly consider it.

    1. Looking at Martinique~it pays well & I could become fluent in French while living on the Caribbean.

  2. Glad you are getting some R&R - warm beaches, interesting food - too bad you don't have company and aren't independently wealthy!

  3. Not everyone needs company and money if there's good chocolate, sand, and sun. So glad you're enjoying yourself.
