to see

'The fulfillment of our life is to see life objectively, to see what's really there....Life is the expression and fulfillment and celebration of beauty.  This is what we're here for.  We're not here for anything else.'
~A.H. Almaas

The dawning of Winter Solstice as I sped toward the last hours of school.

Insomnia's uses: this is so beautiful, I may need to sleep with the closet doors open to admire.

I was inundated with gifts and sweets and cards all week, but these daisies are the nicest thing I received--when a sixth grade boy gives his first bouquet, it is a poignant ritual of passage.

And this gorgeous silk scarf from a new in-the-trenches-colleague will also be a celebration of beauty every time I wear it.
