After last minute packing scrambles and heavy traffic, made it to school in time to catch the bus for our Houston conference. What they hadn't mentioned was that we were picking up three other schools. So, what should have been a 2-3 hour trip, was well over 5 and dumped us into rush hour traffic. We were all a little cranky and hungry by the time we got checked into the hotels (kudos to the convention area hotels for dealing quickly with 4000+ attendees), so we didn't bother reading restaurant reviews, etc.
Happily, The Grove was across the street and could instantly seat the six of us who had jettisoned our luggage. I had the above gnocchi with fava beans & spring squash. Don't think I've eaten that well in a restaurant since dining in the Napa Valley. Delish.
The walk back to the hotel area.
Part of the herb gardens for the restaurant.
The baseball park where several people went to see the kick-off of baseball season.
Texas and the Napa Valley mentioned in the same sentence!? Be still my heart.
