Zilker Botanical redux

Saw a little newspaper blurb that the Zilker Botanicals were having a cacti and succulent sale this weekend, so decided to pop in.

While this garden is minute compared to Portland's astounding array of roses, it is still lovely.  It's surreal to me to be out/about in April and it's 80 and sunny.  Wish these photos came with smell as the gardens defined rose scent this afternoon.

If there weren't so many wandering people, I could have happily taken a nap on the patch of lawn right next to these.

My own version of Jurassic Park--have yet to see the movie, but am tempted as it's back in the theatres right now for a 20th anniversary showing.

Gorgeous water iris next to the gazebo--they were doing some kind of bizarre photo shoot, so the public was not allowed to point cameras in that direction.

Cheerful grouping of Sweet Williams.

Thought it was weird to see palm trees and ferns in the same forest.

Love these curly leaves.

Not sure that it shows here, but this is a Shrimp Bush and they honestly do look like shrimp ready to be picked.  They smell much better than the ocean variety.

Shooting stars of Columbine.

Nice to see purple leaves for contrast.

Am currently painting a clay pot to hold the teensy succulents that I got at the sale; stay tuned...

    1. It is a gorgeous place; would have take more photos, but the place was swarming with people--hard to get a clear shot.

  3. Reminds me of bits of Golden Gate park.
My roses are blooming - just about every bush - and it's a little surreal over here, too - but not nearly so warm, as the high is 62° today, and it's still wiiindy.
