give us not to think so far away

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  For the umpteenth time, I am beginning the packing process.  Almost to the point of giving everything away and just starting over.  That's what Goodwill is for, no?

  1. Ahhh - moving. Something I did, mostly unwillingly, dozens of times. What I had that you don't is a spouse's job waiting at the end. It was tough because often it meant a host of duties for me as well. But you - it could cease to be merely an adjustment and surely not an adventure - but a crucial decision. I pray you will have a "soft place to land" with employment that fulfills and uses your talents.

    1. I'm looking at it as adventure & feeling lucky that I have many options.

    2. Fortunately, it doesn't take a spouse or their job to feel the call of adventure and to take life up on living as largely and loudly and freely as one wants to do.
