and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal

Today is the anniversary of Lincoln's famous speech (and yes, the day of my birth~stay tuned for beach photos!) 143 years after Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, I have to wonder what he'd think of the current United States of America.

  1. Well, we can't go back, can we? I too am concerned about our political landscape. Hope you have something special on your birthday.

    1. Your quote reminds me of a conversation I had Friday with a surprise "Advent-adjacent" YA writer I discovered. Had heard of her books - she's award-winning and very well known -- but hadn't realized she'd gone to Forest Lake or whatever the Academy in Florida is -- Adventist education for 13 years, and her mother was a principal -- but we had a discussion about how the Christian basics we were raised with - "do unto others," the man beaten by the roadside and who passed him by, and who stopped, and then more specific Adventist beliefs -- and how that weighed in the balance of some of the votes this past election. Quite a discussion. All men are created equal -- unless they're a "they" and are threatening. Interesting world.

Anyway - fun little birthday trivia, that he made that speech on your bday!
