from the rising of the sun

While it must be typed that I loathe mornings, the sunrise this morning was well worth being pseudo awake to admire.

And the sunset was equally lovely. Some say winter trees are stark; that may be true, but they have a simplicity of beauty.

And speaking of beauty....we had tried to visit a cupcake shop during the Christmas break, but it was closed the day we were in Leesburg.  'Phew J finally got his hands on this first cupcake box today!  Love the look of incredulity of holding a magical pastry box.

He's already learning to bargain!

  1. I can't wait for Spring to come again, and sunrise to nail me in the head earlier. I like to sit in my chair and watch the wall being painted with colors... the trees look like black lines in that light, though mine aren't nearly that stark, what with the myriad pines and things that never drop their leaves... today the wind chimes are singing in the constant wind. Yesterday I said it felt like Spring, and got some dirty looks. Yet, for me, this is just amazing weather - in the fifties? And sunny? Yes, roll on April, right? But, no.

Funny that it's about the same temps in Glasgow just now - in the thirties during the day, and dry and sunny. During this cold snap, people have accused us of bringing the weather with us - if so, maybe it was a trade that's doing the people over there some good, too.
