when all else fails, there are cookies to be baked

 Saetybul, Tanisha, and Elaine

As dorm study hall was beginning, I could sense a swirl of stress coming from the seniors that wasn't related to the upcoming SAT.  They were frantically rifling through the main dorm kitchen~turns out that tonight is the Senior Bake Sale and their sponsor wasn't around and they needed things to sell by 9:15 p.m.

Said that I, other than eggs, thought I had everything needed to bake chocolate chip cookies.  They stared at me like I was suggesting sorcery.  Seems they didn't know foods that don't come in a box or package.

So, I put all the ingredients out on the counters and made them make cookies for the first time in their lives. They are having SO much fun and want to learn how to cook.   "Things, you know.  More things."

A good evening for all of us~with upcoming term exams and the firing of a fun and well-liked teacher/coach earlier this week, morale is a bit droopy on campus.  NOT to mention the insanity and inanity of the currents of politics right now.  Ms. Child was so right that butter can cure almost anything!  Stay tuned for scenes and tales of students invading my kitchen.

    Erm.
They live in a dorm, and don't BAKE!?
What has boarding school come to? Although, to be fair, we didn't have ovens open to us on the third floor in high school, only in college. But STILL.

    1. They will bake brownies from a box & microwave popcorn & frozen entrees. So, the world of cooking is wide open!

    1. It was~until I found out that their sponsor disappeared on purpose to teach them a lesson. Would have been nice if she had bothered to clue me in.
